Why I became a counsellor

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. Choosing a therapist can feel daunting, and it's important that you feel comfortable, understood and safe. My work centres on creating a warm, grounded, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experience at your own pace.

Many people come to therapy during times of confusion, overwhelm or emotional pain. I've always believed in the incredible strength people hold even when they don't feel it. And my passion lies in helping individuals reconnect with that inner resilience.
My personal journey into becoming a counsellor started in my early forties, after raising a family. Before this I had worked in various forward facing roles of which one was within the fast-paced financial sector in London, where I worked with a wide variety of personalities and always enjoyed meeting new people.
I left the City to raise my family and began to notice how situations from my past were effecting my own mental health, and the impact this had on my ability to cope as a new mother, and also in my new role as a mum. One of my biggest upsets was that counselling was not offered to me in my younger years when I needed it. The desire to use my own personal life experiences to help others was strong and reflecting back on my own childhood and late teens was hard. These years had been far from easy, marked by upheaval, loss, heartbreak and confusion. These personal challenges led me to seek therapy later in life, and through self-exploration, and acceptance, I came to appreciate the true value of therapy with a trusted therapist, who offered me the experience of being truly heard and understood, and validated my feelings. This had such a profound effect, I felt I wanted to provide this to others in their time of need.
Noticing the effects this journey had on myself, I later made the decision to embarked on becoming a mentor for teens, where I witnessed firsthand how having a trusted confidant greatly improved their mental health and confidence. This inspired me to pursue further personal growth through study and eventually work towards becoming a qualified counsellor, all whilst continuing to volunteer and support others along the way.
Optional Tranquil Therapy Rooms
I am privileged to have the flexibility to work from three lovely therapy rooms in the following locations Rayleigh, Southend and Westcliff-on-Sea.
Each therapy room is tranquil, comfortable and secure. Due to the location of rooms there is no disabled access. All the rooms are accessed by a flight of stairs, so please bear this in mind when making an appointment.

It is important to be able to offer therapy for all and for those clients that have accessibility difficulties I offer therapy online which is priced at £50 a session for those that cannot access the therapy rooms.

Building a trusted Therapeutic Relationship
The relationship between client and therapist is key to successful therapy, and I know how first hand the importance of finding the right match. That’s why I offer a brief telephone consultation, allowing us to get to know each other and helping you decide if I’m the right fit for you. Feeling comfortable and confident in your therapist is crucial, and my aim is to provide a friendly, empathic environment where you can relax and feel safe to share your thoughts.

I look forward to supporting you on your journey to a better, more balanced you.
I believe everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the potential to improve their mental health and lead a more fulfilling life. Let’s explore how your own experiences shape your thoughts and feelings, and together, we’ll unpack and make sense of your life.
