My personal journey
I began my own personal journey into becoming a counsellor in my early forties, after raising a family. Before this I had worked in various forward facing roles of which one was within the fast-paced financial sector in London, where I worked with a wide variety of personalities and always enjoyed meeting new people. Since my family was grown, I felt a desire to use my own personal life experiences to help others. My own life, particularly childhood and late teens, had been far from easy, marked by upheaval, loss, heartbreak and confusion. These challenges led me to seek personal therapy, and through self-exploration, I came to appreciate the value of counselling. I later embarked on becoming a mentor for teens, where I witnessed firsthand how having a trusted confidant greatly improved their mental health and confidence. This inspired me to pursue further personal growth through study and eventually work towards becoming a qualified counsellor, all whilst continuing to volunteer and support others along the way.
How I Can Help
As a trauma-informed therapeutic counsellor, I offer a warm, empathetic, and confidential space where you’ll feel safe to share your thoughts and emotions. Our sessions will be free of judgment and tailored to your individual needs. We’ll work collaboratively to uncover the thoughts and feelings that may be blocking your personal growth. I believe that each of us holds the answers within, and through therapy, we can explore your strengths, challenge negative belief patterns, and focus on strategies to help you reach your goals.
You, the client, are at the center of our work. My goal is to empower you with the confidence and autonomy to create positive change in your life.
Who I Work With
I have experience working with individuals of all ages, from older teens to adults, who have faced traumatic events, environmental changes, loss, divorce, relationship struggles, self esteem issues, life transitions such as retirement, becoming a parent, divorce, separation and women’s menopause issues. I have also worked with clients , that are navigating their own personal neurodivergent diagnosis such as ADHD and related anxiety causing challenges, and parents of children with ADHD.
Building a trusted Therapeutic Relationship
The relationship between client and therapist is key to successful therapy, and I know how first hand the importance of finding the right match. That’s why I offer a brief telephone consultation, allowing us to get to know each other and helping you decide if I’m the right fit for you. Feeling comfortable and confident in your therapist is crucial, and my aim is to provide a friendly, empathic environment where you can relax and feel safe to share your thoughts.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey to a better, more balanced you.
I believe everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the potential to improve their mental health and lead a more fulfilling life. Let’s explore how your own experiences shape your thoughts and feelings, and together, we’ll unpack and make sense of your life.
